Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Profile information: Your name, age, gender, bio, and profile photos that you choose to provide when setting up your account.
- Authentication information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those providers. We do not receive or store your password.
- Reports and communications: If you report another user, we retain that report to investigate and take action.
Information Collected Automatically
- Location data: When the app is in use, we access your device's location to show you nearby users. Your precise coordinates are not persisted — they are used only in real-time to calculate proximity and are discarded immediately.
- Device information: Basic device identifiers may be collected for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Usage data: We may collect information about how you interact with the Service, such as features used and sessions, to improve the application.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.
Location Data
Location access is central to how RealLife.my works. Here is exactly what we do with it:
🔒 Location Data Commitment
- Your device shares your location with the app only while you have the app open and location permission granted.
- Your coordinates are used in real-time to compute which other users are near you.
- We do not store your GPS coordinates on our servers.
- Other users see only your approximate distance (e.g., "500m away") — not your exact location.
- You can revoke location access at any time in your device Settings. Doing so will stop the core discovery feature from working.
Photos and Media
Photos you upload to your profile are stored securely on our servers and are visible to other users of the Service. You may update or remove your profile photo at any time from your profile settings. When you delete your account, your photos are permanently deleted from our storage.
We access your camera or photo library only when you explicitly choose to upload or take a profile photo.
Sharing of Information
We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Other users: Your profile information (name, age, gender, bio, photos, and approximate distance) is visible to other users in the discovery feed.
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party infrastructure providers to operate the Service (including backend data storage). These providers process data only on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of RealLife.my or others.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to the same privacy protections.
Third-Party Authentication
We use Google Sign-In and Apple Sign-In to authenticate users. When you use these services, you are subject to their respective privacy policies:
We only receive your name and email address from these providers during sign-in. We do not receive your password.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your profile, photos, likes, matches, and block records are permanently deleted.
- Any reports you submitted or that were made against you may be retained for a limited period for safety and legal compliance purposes.
- Anonymised or aggregated usage analytics (which cannot identify you) may be retained indefinitely.
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal data, including encrypted data transmission (TLS), access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to protect your account by using a strong, unique password for your Google or Apple account and enabling two-factor authentication.
Your Rights
Under the Malaysian Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and applicable laws, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate data through your in-app profile settings or by contacting us.
- Deletion: Delete your account and associated personal data directly from the app (Profile → Delete Account).
- Withdrawal of consent: Revoke location permissions at any time via your device settings.
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.

Children's Privacy
RealLife.my is strictly for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18 years of age. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data. If you believe a minor is using the Service, please contact us at hello@reallife.my.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored on servers located outside of Malaysia. We take steps to ensure that any international transfers are conducted in compliance with applicable data protection laws and that appropriate safeguards are in place.
